The Park
Environment and landscape
The 20th century destruction and conservation

The last century, marked by development and progress, was also the century of savage urbanization, of unauthorized building and the destruction of the historic and environmental links with the past. Today more than ever restoration, prevention, conservation and safeguarding are the only guarantees we have to protect the landscape and preserve it for the future; recognising the worth of each of its component parts so that the whole retains its cultural value as an economic, but more importantly, an educational resource.
